Registered Nurse Stroke Coordinator

Description

SHIFT: No Weekends

SCHEDULE: Full-time

Work Schedule: Full Time, M-F (8am to 5 pm)

Position Summary &
Responsibilities:

 

The Registered Nurse – RN – Stroke Coordinator coordinates
the clinical management of the stroke patient population and their families
across the entire continuum of care. 
Serves as a leader for the stroke program performance improvement
initiative.  Acts as a clinical resource/
role model for all areas caring for stroke patients.  Provides and/or coordinates educational
activities for both staff and patients. Acts as a community liaison on behalf
of the program and hospital.  Directly
involved in the marketing/promotion of services provided.  Incorporated within each of these role
functions, the stroke coordinator is a role model, patient advocate, change
agent, leader, and cost-effective practitioner.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Requirements:


1.   
Licenses
and Certifications:

a.    TX RN license or RN Compact State License

b.    BLS
(AHA)

c.    ACLS
(AHA)

d.    ENPC
OR PALS (AHA)

e.    CEN
and/or CNRN preferred.

 

2.   
Education

a.    Associates Degree required; BSN in nursing preferred

                b.   Membership
in professional organization (ENA, AACN, AORN) preferred.

 

3.   
Experience

a.    Minimum of 3 years experience working in neurosciences
field and   emergency care.

b.   
ICU or ER experience

c.   
Knowledge of Joint
Commission Survey process

d.    Stroke Committee involvement
