The Medical Assistant II under generalsupervision, performs Laboratory functions and prepares patients forexaminations and procedures, assists Physician with various procedures. The Medical Assistant II may operate x-rayequipment to make routine radiographs of designated body regions ordered byPhysician and may perform Laboratory functions. Essential functions of the role include: Handle patient preparation including takingvital signs, assessing condition, performing electrocardiograms, applyingsterile dressings, assisting with pap smears and sutures, monitoring responseto treatment and medication, and documenting changes in condition. Telephone prescription refills to Pharmacy anddocument in medical record. Perform routine Laboratory functions andClinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) waived laboratory tests. Make routine x-rays of designated body regionswhile attending to patient's physical well-being and lifting patient onto andoff table. Calculate and select proper technical factorssuch as voltage, current, exposure time, and focal distance based on patientssize, physical condition, and suspected pathology by using ALARA guidelines. Check radiology equipment to ensure properworking order and notify personnel for repairs. Process and review film to providediagnosis-related information to Physician such as positioning, range ofmotion, and degree of pain. Maintain records and reports necessary to be incompliance with Texas Regulations for control of radiation. May attend meetings to monitor industryregulations. Prepare Examination Rooms with sterileinstruments. May order Medical Laboratory supplies to ensureadequate inventory levels. May clean and maintain Laboratory, ExaminationRoom, and other ancillary equipment. May assist with front office duties such asscheduling, telephones, and filing.
The ideal candidate for the Medical AssistantII role has at least 2 years of experience. The candidate must hold a BLS certification, and have a High SchoolDiploma/GED equivalent. CertifiedMedical Assistant is preferred for the role. Location/Facility ï¿½ Health Texas Provider Network - Dallas, TX
