Are you looking for a job where you can make a real difference in a person’s life?The Institute of Professional Practice (IPPI) is seeking full-time and relief, Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to join our team in North Central, Massachusetts in both our Residential Program & our Day Program.
As a DSP you will work with individuals, their families, and other members of their support system to assist with measurable goals and objectives through an ISP (Individual Support Plan) which are designed to fit the needs and wants of each individual. Your support and instruction will help those we serve achieve goals, overcome barriers, and become more independent.
On a typical day you may assist a small group of individuals at a time with varying levels of need. You may focus on developmental skill training in self-care, self-direction, independent living skills, and personal hygiene. You may also work with individuals on improving communication, socialization, and fine-and-gross motor skills, and give guidance on building meaningful relationships.
DSPs provide support, guidance, advocacy, case management, and empowerment to the individuals served in this community. Duties include hygiene (personal care), lifting, assisting with transfers, documentation, assisting with group therapy, transportation, behavioral intervention using Positive Behavior Supports, role modeling, and recreational activities.
Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent requiredBasic computer skills requiredBachelor’s Degree in Human Services/Social Services related field preferredExperience and/or internship with intellectually disabled adultsValid Massachusetts Driver’s License
