The medical assistant works under the direction of the assigned medical provider for matters related to direct patient care. Reports to direct supervisor for personnel matters, work assignments or other non-patient related issues. As a family health center, services provided include family planning, prenatal care, and primary care for pediatric and adult patients. The medical assistant performs duties only within the scope of his/her training. The medical assistant maintains patient confidentiality and conducts themselves in a professional manner at all times.
Education: High School Diploma / GED required. Medical Assistant certification from and accredited program required. CPR certification required.
Skills: Takes patient vital signs and obtains patient intake information.Performs clinical procedures such as blood draws, vaccines, nebulizer treatments, ear lavages, or EKGs. Effectively communicates with patient to determine their needs and provides education and resources. Ensures exam rooms are prepped and ready. Ensures Provider has all pertinent information required for each patient visit including diagnostic images, labs and required screenings. Assists other Providers and Care Teams in departments such as women's health, pediatrics and general medicine. Utilizes electronic health records to order, process and document clinical treatment plans for patient as directed by the Provider. Conveys information to patient via telephone or email under the direction of a Provider or Registered Nurse. Provides patient with requested documents after review to ensure forms are complete, accurate and executed by the Provider
Experience: A minimum of one-year experience required.
