**Position Summary:**
This position will require travel to Mission Hills, Simi Valley,
and Thousand Oaks.
Prepares patients to
see physician, facilitates lab tests and other physician orders as needed.
Assists the Clinical Director with clinical duties and procedures as
directed. Assists front office with
checking in and checking out patients.
Collects Co- payments and Verify insurance. Complete all physician orders, schedule all
test and diagnostic studies ordered. Obtain authorizations as needed and link
authorizations to visits, tests or procedures. Verify any changes to patient
demographics, update insurances at each visit.
**Key Responsibilities include:**
+ Greetspatients and escorts them from the waiting room to exam rooms; preparespatients for exam or treatment.
+ Preparesexam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments prior to patientappointment
+ Assistsphysicians in preparing for examinations and minor procedures.
+ Performsbasic nursing procedures including thermal applications, non-sterile soaks andapplications of simple dressing, perineal care and urine test.
+ Obtainsand documents patient vital signs in EMR, including temperature, bloodpressure, height/weight, respiration and pulse.
+ Obtainsand documents patient's favorite pharmacy, smoking history, allergies, currentmedication list and/or reconciles the current medication list.
+ Priorto patient appointment assures all reports and other medical information arecurrent in EMR.
+ Maintainsa safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for the patient and theirfamilies.
+ Pre-certifiessurgical and other procedures, if appropriate.
+ Entersverbal and written orders into EMR at the time order is received from aqualified provider (MD, DO, NP, PA).
+ AnswersM.A. phones, takes messages, enters messages in EMR and returns phone calls onsame day.
+ Schedulestests and off site procedures when necessary.
+ Preparesand maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
+ Disposesof contaminated items according to OSHA guidelines.
+ Handleslaboratory specimens according to OSHA and CLIA guidelines.
+ Transmitspatient education when appropriate through the use of preprinted educationmaterials, links, etc.
+ Replenishessupplies, stocks and cleans exam room daily.
+ Takesmedical stock inventory and communicates supply shortage to Clinical Director.
+ Maintainscompany code of conduct and patient confidentiality as regulated by HIPPA
+ Attendsannual CPR, OSHA and CLIA training programs as applicable.
+ Attendsall staff meetings
+ **Will be reimbursed for Mileage**
**Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:**
+ High school diploma.
+ Training in specialty specific assisting a plus.
+ One year experience in primary care clinical assisting preferred
+ Experience performing lab test and processing lab and diagnostic study orders.
+ Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred.
**Preferred Certification/Licensure:**
+ Certified Medical Assistant, current/valid CPR certification
**Additional Information:**
+ Position will require travel to Mission Hills, Simi Valley, and Thousand Oaks.
