Job Description

**Position Overview:**
Performs clinical and clerical duties related to the provision of patient care. Functions in accordance with established Policies and Procedures, and standards. Performs all clinical duties under the direction of a clinician.
**Education/ Knowledge, including Licensure/ Certification/ Registration**
+ Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or eligibility for certification preferred. BLS Healthcare provider is required. Must be certified in CPR and First Aide and maintain current certification thereafter for Sutter Senior Care.
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Knowledge of scope of practice for Medical Assistants in the State of California. Knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations. Knowledge of clinical protocols for vital signs. Knowledge of normal values for vital signs (Blood Pressure, Pulse, Respirations, Temperature). Knowledge of medical positioning for patients. Basic clinical skills must be maintained.
+ Knowledge of scheduling practices/referrals for physician offices preferred. Knowledge of effective teamwork dynamics between front and back office staff.
+ Combination of education and experience sufficient to perform primary responsibilities as would be typically obtained in a 2-year Medical Assistant Program. Two to three (2-3) years of previous practical experience as a Medical Assistant in a Physician's office preferred. Minimum of one-year experience working with the elderly required by PACE regulations for Sutter Senior Care.
+ Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Must be able to work in a complex fast-paced environment and take appropriate actions in emergent situations. Must be able to work within established time frames with attention to detail and accuracy. Computer and Technical Proficient.
