By working in "Caregiver for Seniors" jobs, I learned to stop and smell the roses

Lessons learned from working in "caregiver for seniors" jobs!

As a Certified Nursing Assistant - CNA working in caregiver for seniors jobs in home care, I learned to not take my dreams for granted.

The first time that a client told me that she regretted the opportunities for joy that she missed along the way, I didn’t worry about it too much. Then, one of my other clients, a lawyer who was still practicing law in his 80s, told me that he wished that he had taken more time off from work to travel with his wife. When I worked as a caregiver for a senior for the third time, he also told me that he regretted wasting time doing things that he wasn’t passionate about. Now, i had to pay attention.

In most of my caregiver for seniors jobs, my home care clients have told me that they regretted playing it safe throughout their lives. It's been a privilege to serve as a caregiver for seniors and I want their wisdom to propel me to try new things. I want to take time to see the world. I want to protect time for my family and friends. I’ve already started and you can do it too.  What I learned from working in  caregiver for seniors jobs is that I should “stop and smell the roses” every single day.
